Our research catalogues the recognised ways people respond to a deteriorating building — from the nagging pull of an unfinished job to the low mood of lost light or the quiet shame of neglect. These six patterns sit alongside the practical science because how a property makes someone feel is part of what we are really restoring.
The six Psychological Pathologies are BEEI's catalogue of the maladaptive responses occupants exhibit toward building decay — including Zeigarnik Overload, Lux Deprivation/sub-clinical SAD, Biophobia/Learned Helplessness, and Social Attrition/Environmental Shame. They sit beside the five Anxiety Classes (H1–H5) and the three Client Archetypes as the diagnostic layer of the ethnographic hemisphere, giving the Scholar-Technician a structured way to read the human condition of a property and respond to the psychology, not just the biology.
