T4 Sentinel Tracking is the highest tier of the ATH Forensic Tier system (T1–T4), reserved for sentinel species whose presence demands mandatory action. The archetype is Aspergillus fumigatus — the T4 Sentinel, COSHH-applicable — whose airborne spores cause invasive pulmonary aspergillosis in immunocompromised patients (haematological malignancy, transplant recipients, advanced HIV). Tracking T4 organisms converts a routine clean into a health-protection and compliance obligation, particularly for hospitals and care settings, and links the biological registries directly to occupational and public-health duty.
